We’ll kick off the session with our presentation on IBM Z Storage and Cloud. Most enterprises have recently spent a lot of time, money and energy planning and/or implementing an enterprise Cloud strategy – that often doesn’t include the mainframe. Louis Hanna will highlight how you can leverage your company’s investment in the Cloud on Z, and focus on 4 key benefits of Cloud storage on the mainframe: Scalability, Availability, Economics and Security.

Development agility, flexibility, and time-to-market are the key metrics for next big innovative service, but Public cloud is not the “only”answer to achieve transformation and innovation. Are you concerned of data security? Need to meet organizational & regulatory compliance requirements? You can get the agility, flexibility, and scalability of public cloud employed within your corporate firewalls. Kavita Sehgal will show how IBM Cloud Private on Z, the private cloud offering, provides operational efficiencies, centralized management, and tools to 1. modernize exiting infrastructure 2. create net new cloud native apps 3. connect and extend 4. protect IT investment 5. achieve highest level of security.

Then, we will hear the latest IBM announcement buzz from Think2019 related to new technologies and z Systems at a high level. David Morlitz will summarize of all of the newest announcements from IBM and brief discussions about how these announcements relate to your z environment.

Following, Yongkook(Alex) Kim, shows ViVa (Vicom Infinity Voice Assistant) a voice assistant that can securely interact with a mainframe using your voice and the latest technologies such as IBM Watson, Secure Services Container and Linux Foundation Open Mainframe Project’s open source tool Zowe.

Rounding out our session we will wrap up with, “Service learning” refering to university programs that allow students to use their skills and knowledge to directly benefit their communities. Two students from the Business and IT program at Framingham State University, and the Director Anna Cross of the MetroWest Nonprofit Network (MWNN), describe their experience working together in Fall 2018 on a technology-related service learning project.
