Round table Event
Hosted by East Carolina University, IBM Z Systems Academic Initiative, and Vicom Infinity, Inc
Please join ECU’s College of Engineering & Technology, IBM, Vicom Infinity, and representatives from industry on May 14, 2019, to discuss the development of the next generation of information technology leaders from ECU.
Educators and businesses must have a close relationship and work together to define the future of Enterprise Systems education so that more students will graduate with relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
The goal of this meeting is to help ECU and its College of Engineering & Technology (CET) explore future opportunities for growing the enterprise systems workforce. We will solicit your guidance on the knowledge and skills you require to run your IBM Z Systems and assess how well ECU’s current program meets those needs. We will explore ways to improve courses, develop curricula, and provide beyond-the-classroom experiences to create better pathways to internships and/or employment with your organizations. Finally, we will have an open discussion on how to improve marketing, student recruiting, and securing resources to build a strong academic program to meet future enterprise systems workforce needs.
As an information technology leader within an organization that leverages IBM Z Enterprise Systems technology, we believe your organization can benefit, long-term, by talking to educators about the use of IBM Z systems in your business, as well as your workforce recruiting challenges. Your involvement will be critical to helping ECU chart its path forward as it considers future investment in an “Enterprise Systems Academic Initiative.”
