Workshop Description & Details
Course Description
This no-charge two day workshop is designed for Linux and Oracle IT professionals and decision makers who are considering the Linux on z or LinuxONE platform for Oracle database deployment. This includes those seeking a more cost effective platform for Oracle that provides higher reliability, availability, and security, while reducing overall IT costs – especially with hardware and software licensing. The event will be of interest to attendees who are considering a move of Oracle databases to Linux on z Systems or LinuxONE, or the installation of new Oracle database instances. Oracle DBAs and administrators along with z Systems personnel are encouraged to attend and learn about the fully certified IBM Oracle solution on Linux on z and LinuxONE. Presentations, demonstrations and labs will showcase the installation of Redhat or SUSE Linux and Oracle 12c database software with the z/VM hypervisor. The workshop will also include lectures on database migration, tuning and performance, monitoring tools and data collection. Next steps, POC recommendations, and a discussion of technical support and implementation services available to assist users to achieve a successful installation will conclude the workshop.
This two day workshop will include lectures and hands on labs. Workstations will be provided for the labs, with attendees working in teams of two for the labs. The workshop will begin at 9 AM each day with registration at 8:30 AM and will end at approximately 5 PM each day.
